This Privacy Policy explains how I, Valerie Duthil (trading as Val Duthil), collect, use, and protect your personal information when you visit my website, book a session, or engage with any of my services. By using my services, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.

When you engage with my services, I may collect the following personal information:

  • Your first name and email address when you submit a contact form enquiry

  • Your name, email address, and phone number when you book a session through Acuity Scheduling

  • Any intake information or personal details you voluntarily share prior to or during a session

  • Your email address if you sign up for my newsletter

 

Payment details are processed securely via third-party platforms including Stripe and Apple Pay through Acuity Scheduling. I do not store or have access to your full payment information.

 

I do not collect sensitive information such as government-issued IDs or private financial information beyond what is required to complete secure payments.

2. How I Use Your Information

Your personal information is used only to:

  • Schedule and confirm your sessions

  • Send reminders, follow-ups, and booking confirmations

  • Respond to your enquiries and provide support

  • Send newsletters and updates (only if you have subscribed)

  • Maintain session notes to support continuity of care

  • Fulfil legal or tax-related obligations

 

I do not sell, rent, or misuse your data. Your privacy is important to me.

3. Session Notes and Recordings

I may keep written notes from your sessions to support the continuity of our work together. These notes are stored securely on password-protected devices and within Acuity Scheduling.

I do not record sessions. You are welcome to make your own audio or video recording of your session for personal use. Any such recordings are made and held solely by you and are not stored or retained by me.

4. Data Protection and Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your personal information:

  • Secure payment platforms are used (Stripe and Apple Pay via Acuity Scheduling)

  • Booking data is managed through the secure Acuity Scheduling platform

  • Session notes are stored on password-protected devices

  • I only retain the information necessary for business and legal compliance

  • No data is sold or disclosed to third parties for marketing purposes

 

5. Sensitive and Health-Related Information

The work I do — including hypnotherapy, spiritual hypnotherapy, and sound healing — may involve you sharing personal information of a sensitive, health-related, psychological, or spiritual nature. I treat all such information with the highest level of care and confidentiality. It is used solely to support your session and will never be shared with third parties without your explicit consent, except where required by law.

6. Newsletter

If you sign up for my newsletter, I will use your email address to send you updates and information about my services. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting me at connect@valduthil.com.

I will never send you marketing communications without your consent.

My website and services use the following third-party platforms:

  • Acuity Scheduling — session booking and management

  • Stripe and Apple Pay — secure payment processing

10. International Clients

I work with clients around the world, including in Australia, the United States, Europe, and beyond. Please be aware that some of the third-party platforms I use, such as Acuity and Wix, may store or process data outside of Canada.

I handle all personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including:

  • British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)

  • Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)

  • European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — for clients in the EU and UK

  • Australian Privacy Act 1988 — for clients in Australia

  • United States — for US-based clients, I apply the same principles of transparency, consent, and data minimisation consistent with applicable US privacy standards, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) where applicable

 

By using my services, international clients agree to be bound by the terms outlined in this policy.

11. Minors

Services are available to individuals of legal adult age in their jurisdiction of residence (19 years in British Columbia; 18 years in most other jurisdictions). Clients under the applicable age of majority may only book with prior written parental or guardian consent. I do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information, please contact me at connect@valduthil.com and I will delete it promptly.

 

12. Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on my website at valduthil.com. Continued use of my services after any updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
